In recent years, many companies and organizations have been taking public positions against racial injustice. Corporate statements about diversity & inclusion are a good start, but ongoing conversations and actions connected to those commitments are needed for lasting change .
In the meantime, as individual talent managers, leaders, and colleagues, we may be looking for ways to serve as an ally to others. But what does becoming an ally really mean?
Becoming an ally doesn’t start or end in the workplace. Creating a truly inclusive environment begins with reflection on our own privileges and biases. It also involves listening closely to others’ experiences and taking intentional actions, which include promoting practices that create psychological safety for everyone, and leveraging our advantages to advocate for, and in partnership with, others.

Joanne Dias

Joanne serves as a senior faculty member for our Global Markets custom work based in Greensboro, NC. Her focus is on designing and delivering customized leadership programs for managers and executives within global organizations.
Joanne utilizes her knowledge of organizational behavior, I/O Psychology, and business expertise to develop program designs tailored to each organization’s unique needs. Joanne applies her passion for diversity and development to her work with organizations and their leaders in order to enable them to fulfill their potential in an ever-changing global marketplace.
Jayke Hamill
Faculty Associate, Societal Advancement
Center for Creative Leadership
As a faculty member for our Societal Advancement team, Jayke designs and facilitates leadership development programs with nonprofit organizations, grassroots community leaders, foundations, and educators to build stronger, more equitable partnerships.
Since joining us in 2015, Jayke has been privileged to work alongside clients and communities to create spaces that foster equity, diversity, and inclusion – spanning programs that have supported leaders in advancing racial equity, building advocacy pipelines for disability rights, strengthening networks among LGBTQ leaders, and beyond.
